Got a call from a night shift pharmacist over in the Via Marina neighborhood in Oxnard. Before she even asked about pricing, she told me she'd already looked up my BSIS license, LCO 6792, on the state website. Her last locksmith had no license number on the receipt and no company name. The phone number he gave her went dead a week later. She was not doing that again.
She needed a spare transponder key for her 2002 Lincoln Town Car. The original H72 was getting worn down at the shoulder cuts, and she could feel it dragging in the ignition cylinder. Hadn't failed yet, but she was smart enough to know what comes next.
I cut the new H72-PT on site, decoded from the original so the cuts matched factory spec. Then programmed the 4C transponder chip through the PATS system using my IM608 with authorized NASTF security access through Ford's Secure Data Release channel. No workaround codes, no leftover DTCs in the PCM.
Tested both keys, cycled the ignition, confirmed the theft light on the dash did its normal prove-out and went dark within three seconds each time. That steady-then-off pattern is what you want. If it stays flashing, the PATS module did not accept the key.
She watched the whole thing from her front steps, arms crossed, like she was grading me. Fair enough. I would too after the last guy.
