A guy over in Marina West, Oxnard, had a 2000 Town Car that started doing something strange. It would fire up in the morning without a problem, but by the time he tried to leave work in the evening, the theft indicator would flash fast and the engine wouldn't crank. He'd wait a few minutes, try again, sometimes it would catch. Sometimes it wouldn't. He figured it was an electrical gremlin somewhere in the car.

I cut a new key using the correct transponder type for this generation, ran through the timed relearn procedure on site, and confirmed the theft light behavior was back to normal before I left. He asked if the car had some kind of computer problem. I told him the car was fine the whole time.
