In Oxnard's Historic District, I got a call from a guy who drives for a rideshare platform. He was parked between rides when his key blade snapped off inside the door lock. Clean break, right at the shoulder. Years of heavy daily use on one key will do that.

When I got there, I used a Lishi-style pick tool to carefully work out the broken blade fragment without touching the wafer surfaces inside the cylinder. Takes patience, but it beats destroying the lock. Once the fragment was out, I decoded the cut depths right from the cylinder itself, ran the code, and cut a fresh key blade on site.
Turned the key. Started first try.
No drilling. No new cylinder. No tow to a dealer. The other guy's approach would have taken days and cost him a serious chunk of working time on top of the parts bill. I was done in under an hour and he was back on the road before his next ride request came in.
Destructive entry is always a last resort. On a 2000 MPV, it almost never needs to be.
