A pharmacy tech called me from a strip mall lot near Oxnard State Beach Park around 9:45 at night. Closing shift, dark lot, and her only key to her 2005 MPV was gone. Checked her pockets, the store, the asphalt. Nothing.

She got quiet once the engine turned over. Just stood there holding both keys like she was making sure they were real.
She drove home that night. The dealer was closed anyway, and a tow plus their timeline would have meant days without her car. The VIN is the single most useful thing you can text me before I arrive.
