2011 Nissan 370z
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2011 Nissan 370z Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Near the Botanic Garden Area in Thousand Oaks, a guy called me about his 2011 370Z sitting in a parking lot with no key. Not a dead fob.

No key at all. He had been out on the water earlier and somewhere between packing up and getting back to his car, his only key was gone. He checked his bag twice, retraced his steps, nothing. He figured he was calling a tow truck and waiting until the dealer opened Monday.

I told him I could be there that afternoon and handle it on site.

When I pulled up, the car was locked and he had zero access. I used a pick and decode tool on the door lock to read each wafer position directly without an original key present. That gave me the mechanical cut data I needed. Once I had the cut, I connected through the OBD port and ran the all-keys-lost procedure through the immobilizer. That sequence erases any previously registered fobs from the system and registers the new one as the primary key. I cut the blade, programmed the fob, and tested every function before I packed up. Then I made him a spare, right there, so he wasn't in the same position a year from now.

The car started in the same lot he had been stranded in. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a tow plus the Monday appointment plus whatever programming would cost. He ended up paying a fraction of that, same afternoon, without moving the car once.
