2020 Nissan 370z Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over near Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, a woman who ran a home daycare out of her bungalow called about her 2020 370Z. The smart key shell had cracked near the emergency blade slot and the rubber button pad was wearing through on the lock side. She had already gone to the Nissan dealer. They quoted her a full replacement: new fob, new blade, programming, the whole menu. No mention that her internals were fine.
I drove out that evening. Popped the fob open on her porch table so she could see everything. The PCB board inside was clean, battery contacts tight, Hitag AES chip intact. The problem was the shell, period. The plastic had split right along the seam where the emergency key inserts, probably from years of sitting in a bag with other stuff pressing against it.
I transferred her working circuit board and transponder into a fresh aftermarket shell with the same three-button layout and snap fit. Cut a new DAT17 blade by decoding her driver door, tested all three buttons, tested push-to-start, walked every door for proximity lock and unlock.
Her cracked key was her only one, so I programmed a spare while I was there. Two working fobs, one visit, done on her front porch for a fraction of what the dealer wanted. She went back inside to finish dinner with her daycare kids.
