There is a CrossFit gym near Downtown Oxnard, and I got a call from a guy who had been fighting his 2007 Scion tC ignition for weeks. Not every day. Some mornings it turned clean. Other mornings he was sitting in the parking lot working the key back and forth for five minutes before it caught. He thought he was imagining it at first. Then it started happening more.

I decoded the lock, replaced the worn wafers, and cut a fresh remote head key matched to the car. Then I programmed it through the OBD port so the transponder enrolled correctly and the remote functions came back live. He watched the whole thing. I showed him the old wafers and the wear was obvious once you see it side by side.
He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted. The ignition turns smooth now. He said it felt like a different car.
