2010 Scion TC Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in Oxnard Shores, a TC owner flagged me down about her remote head key. The plastic shell had split right at the key ring hole, which is the exact weak point on every MOZB41TG I have ever handled. She had been holding it together with electrical tape for months. Buttons were mushy and half-responsive. The TOY43 blade was worn smooth on one side.
The dealer had quoted her for a full replacement key, programming, and a separate trip to get the blade cut. Multiple visits, and a wait time she described as "like two weeks, maybe."
I met her at her street parking spot with a fresh shell and my TOY43 Lishi. Popped the old housing open and checked the board. The 4D-67 chip was fine. The little circuit board for the remote was fine. This is what I see over and over on these first-gen TC keys from 2005 to 2010: the shell cracks, the owner assumes the whole key is toast, and the dealer does not correct that assumption.
Moved the working internals into the new shell, cut a fresh TOY43 blade decoded right off the driver door, and tested ignition, doors, and trunk button. Everything hit first try.
She kept picking it up and looking at it like it was a different key. Same guts, new skin, new blade, fraction of what they wanted at the dealer.
