A tenant in a gated apartment complex in El Rio called me on a weeknight. His 2016 Scion TC was sitting inside the gates with a dead key. The tow company he called couldn't get a flatbed through without a gate code, and the property management office was dark for the night. He was stuck.

I built the replacement fob, ran the programming sequence with my diagnostic equipment right there in his visitor spot, and walked every function: lock, unlock, the third button, and the physical blade in the door cylinder. The car never left the property.
He mentioned he'd already gotten a quote from a dealer while he was waiting. It was steep, it required towing since the car wouldn't leave on its own, and the earliest available appointment was two days out. He got it done that night, in the spot where the car sat, for a fraction of what they wanted.
