2011 Toyota Matrix
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2011 Toyota Matrix Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A call came in from Las Posas Estates in Camarillo, maybe 9 at night, from a guy standing in an empty office park parking lot. His only key was gone. Not misplaced in the car, not locked inside. Gone. He had already checked his pockets twice, retraced his whole day, looked under the hedges near the entrance. Nothing.

He was about two minutes from calling a tow when he found me.

He did not have his registration on him and did not know his VIN off the top of his head. I told him to look at the base of the windshield on the driver's side and read me what he saw. He found it. Then I told him to open his insurance app, which had the registration info he needed for ownership verification. By the time he finished reading it to me, I already knew what I was pulling from the bag.

The 2011 Matrix takes a 4-button remote head key, the transponder and remote functions in one unit. I had the right blank, the right battery, and the tools loaded before I pulled out of my driveway. When I got to him, I cut the blade to his vehicle, programmed the transponder to the immobilizer, and synced the remote. I tested every button and let him start the car himself twice before I packed up.

He said the dealer quoted him over the phone for the same job, plus a tow since they could not see the car until morning. He was home before midnight.

The VIN is the most useful thing you can give me before I arrive. Text it and the job moves faster. If you are panicking and do not know where to find it, just call. I will walk you through it.
