Another locksmith had tried programming a key to her 2010 Volkswagen Passat, bailed halfway through, and left fault codes stuck in the immobilizer. The car wouldn't accept any key after that. She just watched the engine turn over like she was waiting for it to stall.
Didn't charge extra for the cleanup. That's part of doing the job right. The whole visit, including undoing someone else's mess, took about an hour. The dealer had quoted her weeks of wait time for a new key order plus the shop visit. She got it handled same day at her place for a fraction of what they wanted.
