Then I tested. Not a quick click and a handshake. I walked the parking lot hitting all five buttons from 30 feet out. Lock, unlock, trunk release, panic, approach lights. Three consecutive cold starts. Checked that the transponder handshake cleared every time with no delay on crank.
She watched the whole thing from a bench. When I started it the third time, she just nodded slowly, like she was waiting for it to fail.
It did not fail. That is the whole point of testing before I pack up and leave.
