Got a call from a guy at a Cadillac owners meetup out near Lake Casitas Recreation Area in Ventura. He'd already been burned. Called one of those cheap Google ad locksmiths for his 2010 Cadillac SRX, and the tech who showed up partially programmed his smart key. It would lock and unlock the doors, but push-to-start was hit or miss. Sometimes nothing. Sometimes it would crank on the third press. He was done trusting strangers.

I gave him my BSIS license number right on the phone, LCO 6792. He pulled up the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services site and confirmed it while we were still talking. I told him I'd fix what the other guy botched and he'd pay the quote, nothing extra.
On site, I ran my Smart Pro through the BCM security access on his Theta platform body. The previous tech had written the fob to the vehicle but skipped the full immobilizer relearn, so the Body Control Module only half-recognized it. I cleared the old registration, ran a clean GM proximity key learn sequence through the OBD-II port, and wrote the NBG009768T fresh. All five buttons came back, push-to-start was solid, and passive entry worked on both front doors and the liftgate.
He stood there watching the whole thing and just said, "That's it?" Yep. That was it. A fraction of what the dealer wanted, done in the parking area, no tow truck involved.
