2014 Cadillac SRX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2014 Cadillac SRX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got the call from East Ventura on a Saturday night. His wife was on the phone because his cell was gone. He'd been at a steakhouse in Ventura for their anniversary, left his jacket at coat check, and by the time he remembered it, the jacket was gone. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it.

The 2014 SRX was sitting in the lot and they had nothing. She'd already called the Cadillac dealer. They told her the car would need to be towed in, it would be several business days out, and they recommended wiping and reprogramming the entire key system since the stolen fob could still access the car. The estimate was significant, and none of it was happening that night.

I was there within the hour.

All-keys-lost after a theft isn't just a key replacement. The stolen fob has to be made useless to this specific car, which means clearing the key memory in the body control module entirely and re-registering new fobs from scratch. That part requires professional diagnostic equipment and a timed process built into the module itself. There's no shortcut.

I worked through the procedure at the car, in the lot, registered two new fobs to the module, decoded the lock cylinder, and cut the emergency blade insert so he had a physical backup. By the time the restaurant was closing up, both keys were working, the stolen fob was dead to the car, and he drove home.

The dealer quote was for parts, labor, a tow, and nearly a week of waiting. He paid a fraction of that and was home the same night. That's the one part he kept coming back to on the way out: same night.
