A guy near Ventura Pier flagged me down at a highway rest stop. His 2015 Cadillac SRX key blade had gone stiff in the door lock, catching hard on every turn. He could feel it about to snap. He was done risking it.
Another locksmith had already quoted him over the phone for a full ignition cylinder replacement. Big job, big number, plus a tow to get it done. He was not thrilled.
I looked at the blade. Visibly worn, rounded on the high cuts, dragging across wafers that were still in good shape. The lock was not the problem. The key was.
I pulled out my HU100 Lishi and decoded the door cylinder where the wafers were still clean and reading true. Each position came up clear, gave me original cut depths without touching anything inside the lock. Cut a fresh blade right there on the van, paired it to his existing smart fob housing with the NBG009768T board, and programmed the transponder through the OBD port using the GM security access login.
Tested passive entry on all four doors, hatch release, push-to-start, and cycled the ignition three times to make sure the immobilizer was happy.
His original ignition cylinder never needed replacing. Just a properly cut blade on a fob that already worked. He drove off with the Cadillac looking exactly how he pulled in, no drill marks, no new cylinder, no tow, and for way less than that first quote.
