Got a call around 1 AM from a guy near the Ventura County Medical Center. His 2011 SRX was sitting in the driveway, push-to-start, and the only fob he owned had just quit on him. The DIC was showing "No Remote Detected" and the doors wouldn't respond to any button press. He had already looked up flatbed prices for a morning tow to the dealer.
I told him to hold tight, I'd come to him.
Pulled up about 1:30. Connected my programmer to the OBD-II port under the dash and ran the GM proximity key all-keys-lost procedure through the BCM. The SRX uses Hitag2/ID46 security, so there's a timed security access countdown the tool has to cycle through. You just wait it out.
His fob was the NBG009768T, five-button with remote start. I programmed the replacement, cut a fresh HU100 emergency blade, and seated a new CR2032. Then the walkthrough: lock, unlock, hatch release, remote start from 20 feet, push-button ignition, and the console backup slot just to show him it works.
He stood there watching the whole thing from his front steps in slippers. When the engine turned over on the start button, he just nodded slowly like he was still processing that nobody had to tow anything anywhere.
Done in his driveway, middle of the night, for a fraction of what the dealer route plus a flatbed would have cost him.
