1996 Chevrolet Camaro
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

1996 Chevrolet Camaro Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a couple over in the College area of Ventura. The 1996 Camaro had been sitting more than driving lately, and they were down to one key. It was worn enough that the ignition was getting finicky, and they wanted a spare cut before it stopped working entirely.

Getting to a dealer was not a small thing for them. Highway driving was off the table, and the nearest Chevy dealer was not exactly around the corner. They needed someone to come to them.

I pulled up to their driveway that morning. The car was a clean example, clearly cared for. I decoded the lock on-site and verified the cut against the ignition before duplicating anything, because on a car this old, copying a worn key just gives you a worn copy. I cut from the decode, not from the original.

I handed them two keys before noon. Both worked the door, both worked the ignition. No tow, no appointment, no highway. The dealer route would have meant arranging a ride and waiting around. This was done in the driveway, and they saved a good chunk doing it this way.
