The remote was the MYT3X6898B, the 3-button unit with lock, unlock, and hatch. Paired the new fob using the door lock and ignition learn sequence. Tested all three buttons, checked range from the porch, from the sidewalk, from the end of the driveway. Both fobs responded clean.
Then I popped the back off the old remote and showed them the CR2032 inside, how to slide the case apart, and what a low battery looks like in real life: shorter range first, then missed presses, then nothing.
They got two working setups handed to them before lunch without leaving their house. The dealer would have taken longer just to schedule the appointment.
