I was already in the Five Points area of Oxnard when the call came in, which worked out.
The owner of a 2011 Ford Fiesta had done the thing people do: searched for a locksmith, picked the ad at the top, and paid the price. Except the price he got quoted on the phone wasn't the price he paid when the tech left. And the key that tech programmed would start the car but the remote buttons did nothing. Lock, unlock, all dead. He'd been walking up and manually working the door handle for two weeks before he decided to find someone else.

When I got to him, the issue was exactly what he described. The fob had been partially registered. The vehicle security system saw it well enough to allow a start, but the remote functions hadn't enrolled correctly. I connected my programmer, cleared the partial registration, and ran a clean full enrollment for his fob. Took about 25 minutes on site.
All three buttons came back. Start was clean. He tested it himself three or four times before he was satisfied, which is exactly what I want people to do.
The dealer quote he'd gotten before calling the first locksmith was more than I charged. The scam locksmith charged more than the dealer and left the job half done. He ended up paying me to fix what someone else broke, and my number was still less than what the dealer wanted from the start.
