Got a call from a guy stuck at a gas station near the La Colonia neighborhood in Oxnard. His 2019 Ford Fiesta key blade snapped clean in the ignition. Half the blade jammed in the cylinder, the other half in his hand. He was on a road trip, engine still running, afraid to force anything.

I got out there and used my HU101 Lishi to extract the broken piece without chewing up the ignition wafers. Pulled it out clean on the first pass. Then I decoded the lock right off the cylinder and cut a fresh high-security sidewinder blade. His KR55WK48801 remote fob was fine, battery good, buttons all working. The only piece that died was the mechanical blade insert.
Cut the new key, seated it in the fob housing, and ran the PATS programming. The system accepted the new 128-bit transponder within one security access cycle. Tested start, tested lock and unlock, tested the trunk button. All three buttons, all good.
He was back on the 101 in under an hour from when he called. A snapped key at a gas station on a trip feels like a disaster. For the Fiesta's HU101 keyway, it is one of the cleaner jobs I run.
