2018 Ford Fiesta Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A tenant at an apartment complex over in the Windsor North neighborhood in Oxnard called me about her 2018 Ford Fiesta. One key. Bought it used, always meant to get a spare, never did. Three years later the plastic shell cracked at the blade pivot and the blade snapped clean off inside the driver's door lock. Remote head in one hand, broken blade stuck in the cylinder, zero working keys.
The chip inside the cracked housing was still intact. That's the 4D63-80bit Texas Instruments transponder that talks to the PATS module on her Fiesta. I pulled the transponder data off it with my VVDI2 and cloned it into a new shell, which meant I could skip a full all-keys-lost reset and the 10-minute security timeout that comes with it.
I extracted the broken blade fragment from the lock, decoded the wafers, and cut two fresh H75 keys. Rebuilt her fob, KR55WK48801 part number 164-R8048, into a clean new shell with the cloned chip seated right. Programmed the remote functions, tested lock, unlock, and trunk on both keys.
She watched me pull the old chip out of the cracked case. Tiny little glass tube. Hard to believe that thing decides whether your car starts.
Went from zero keys to two in about 40 minutes. She asked what the dealer quoted. I just told her she saved a good chunk and left it at that.
