Got a call from a guy near Hope Ranch community in Santa Barbara. He was at a gas station and his key had snapped clean in the ignition of his 2011 Ford Transit Connect. Half the blade jammed in the cylinder, the other half sitting in his palm. Van was still running because he was afraid to force anything. Smart move.

When I got there I used my H75 Lishi to pull the broken piece out of the wafers without scratching them up. Clean extraction. Then I decoded the lock right off the cylinder and cut a fresh blade on the H75 blank. His KR55WK47899 remote head was fine, the fob half still worked, so the job was really about the transponder blade and getting the 4D63 80-bit chip programmed into the PATS module.
One security cycle through the OBD-II port. The instrument cluster theft light blinked, went solid, then turned off. That's the PATS handshake. Engine fired right up.
He stood there for a second just watching the van idle, like he expected it to stall.
Back on the road in under an hour from when he called. A snapped key at a gas station on a trip feels like a disaster. On these first-gen Transit Connects, it's one of the simpler jobs I run.
