Got a call from the Telephone Road commercial area in Ventura, mid-July. A woman had just come out of the medical plaza and her 2017 Ford Transit would not respond to the remote head key. No click, no flash. She could see the van across the lot with grocery bags in the back seat, frozen stuff included. She figured maybe 30 minutes before it all turned.
She called the dealer. Earliest opening was tomorrow afternoon. Then she called me. I was about 20 minutes out.
When I got there I checked the OUC6000022 fob first. Dead CR2032, but that was only half the story. I popped the shell and the battery contact inside had a green ring of corrosion around it, enough to kill the connection even with a fresh cell. The transponder side was fine, so the PATS 80-bit chip was still reading, but without the remote buttons working she had no way to unlock the doors from outside.
I got the door open with a Lishi HU101, swapped in a new 164-R8046 remote head key, programmed it through the OBD-II port using the two-key PATS method since she still had her spare at home and we linked up by phone to confirm. Tested lock, unlock, panic, and trunk release. All four buttons, plus a clean start with no theft light.
Phone call to engine running, under 50 minutes. The groceries made it.
