Got a call around 9pm from someone over near Five Points Shopping Center in Oxnard. She works as an occupational therapist at a clinic nearby and had just finished a late session. Walked out to her 2004 Q45 in the employee lot, put the key in, turned it, and nothing. Dash lit up, SECURITY indicator stayed solid, engine would not crank. I got there before 10pm. Pulled the old key apart on the hood and the 4D60 chip had a hairline crack in the housing. Probably been flexed in a pocket for years. I cut a new blade to match her H0561-3AA0B blank, seated a fresh 4D60 transponder, and ran the NATS5 key registration through OBD using my Smart Pro. The BCM picked up the new key on the first pass.
Tested ignition start, tested all four remote buttons, cycled the locks from driver and passenger side. She sat in the passenger seat watching the whole thing like she was waiting for it to fail again.
35 minutes from my arrival to her driving home. She did not have to leave her Q45 in a dark lot overnight or rearrange her patient schedule for a Thursday dealer visit.
