2022 Infiniti Q60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already wrapping up another job near downtown Oxnard when the call came in. A woman in a parking garage at a shopping center off the Mandalay Beach area said her 2022 Q60 fob had gone completely dark. She'd stepped away for less than a minute to return a cart. Her infant was strapped in the back seat. The car was locked. The fob wasn't responding to anything.
She was calm on the phone but I could hear what was underneath it. I told her I was close and I was moving.
First thing I did when I got there was get the door open. That's the job right there, everything else is secondary. She got her baby out, got them both settled, and then we had a minute to breathe.
I looked at the fob. Fresh-looking battery, so I checked it anyway. Good voltage. The issue was deeper than that. The fob's internal circuit had failed, not a battery swap situation. I transferred the key data to a new fob, cut the emergency blade to fit her car, and registered the new unit through the OBD port on the Q60. Ran every function before I called it done: lock, unlock, the push-button start reading the fob correctly, all five buttons accounted for.
She had mentioned the dealer when she first called, almost as a reflex, before she remembered they were closed and that a tow and a dealer visit the next morning wasn't going to work for her. I didn't bring it up again. It didn't matter.
The baby was asleep in the stroller by the time I finished. She drove home that night.
Some calls I remember more than the technical side of the job. That one I remember all of it.
