Out near Conejo Valley Botanic Garden in Thousand Oaks, a farm equipment salesman had been visiting a client down a dirt road about 30 minutes from anything resembling a parts counter. The 2005 Quest uses NATS5 with a PCF7936 transponder, so I wrote a fresh 46 chip into a new CWTWB1U751 remote head shell, cut the blade to code on my Condor, and tested ignition.

His Quest started in the same dirt spot where it had been sitting all afternoon. All four buttons on the remote worked, doors locked and unlocked clean, and the panic button lit up the parking lights like it should.

He kept looking back at the car while I was packing up, like he expected it to stall. It did not.
