Got a call from a guy out in the Ventura Keys area. His 2015 Quest, the one with the dual sliding doors and the six-button fob. He had snapped his key blade clean off inside the ignition that morning. Half was jammed in the cylinder, the other half was sitting in his palm like a broken promise.

I used my DAT17 Lishi to extract the broken piece without chewing up the wafers inside. Once the fragment was out, I decoded the lock right off the cylinder readings and cut a fresh emergency insert blade. His fob, the CWTWB1U789 with the sliding door buttons, was totally fine sitting in his pocket. The remote side never broke. I just needed a new blade cut and a transponder chip registered through the NATS system on the BCM.
One programming cycle through the OBD port. The immobilizer picked up the new 46 chip, no drama.
He stood there watching me work on the hood and kept looking back at the junkyard lot behind him like the whole situation was a bad joke. Snapped key, middle of a pull-a-part lot, seven in the morning.
Under an hour from phone call to him driving out. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a multi-day wait, and way more than he wanted to spend on a key.
