Got a call from a guy in La Colonia neighborhood in Oxnard. His 2001 LeSabre was parked on a dead-end street that backed up against a walking trail, zero room for a flatbed. He had one key left and the blade had cracked right at the head, so the transponder chip was hanging by a thread inside the plastic. He'd been nursing it for weeks, turning it gently like he was defusing something.

I parked at the top of the block and walked down with my bag. Cut a fresh B99 blank on my Condor, then pulled the old key apart on his trunk lid to confirm the ID13 chip was still reading. It was. Moved the chip into the new housing, connected my IM608 to the OBD port under the dash, and ran the PK3 transponder relearn through the BCM. The security light on the cluster cycled for about ten minutes during the timed learn sequence, then went off.
He turned it over and it caught first crank. He sat there for a second with his hands on the wheel, not going anywhere, just satisfied it worked.
I cut him a spare while I was there so he wouldn't end up in the same spot again. Both keys, programmed and tested, on that dead-end street. His car never had to move until he drove it home.
