2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from someone over in the Moorpark College Area, parked in a lot not far from the campus. He was already late to something and his remote had been acting up for weeks, locking the doors maybe half the time, unlocking them when it felt like it. That day it just stopped. Completely dead.
He had the key, so he could get in and drive, but he commutes at night and wanted the remote working again. Reasonable.
When I got there he handed me the fob. I popped it open right on the trunk of the car. The CR2032 inside still had a label on it, looked original. I tested voltage and it was barely holding on. Swapped it out, cleaned the contacts, snapped it back together.
Four buttons, all working. Lock, unlock, the rest of them, all responding from a normal distance. Took maybe six minutes including the walk from my van.
He asked about getting a second remote programmed as a backup while I was already there. We did that too, confirmed both remotes were recognized by the system, and he was back to his errand before the parking meter had anything to say about it.
The dealer quote he had gotten a few months earlier, when he first started having issues, was not something he wanted to revisit. He came back to me instead, and this one ended up being a battery and a clean. Sometimes that is the whole story.
