I got a call from a guy in Birnam Wood, right there in the Montecito hills. He had a 2017 Challenger and the fob shell had split along the seam near the buttons. After that I decoded the blade from his lock cylinder and cut a matching replacement so he'd have a clean key going forward.
The whole thing took under an hour. He got a fob that felt like new because the parts that mattered never needed replacing. The dealer quote was for work that simply wasn't necessary.
