2017 Dodge Challenger Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A tattoo artist near Coast Village Road in Montecito flagged me down about his 2017 Challenger. The plastic shell on his smart key had cracked clean through around the button pad. One side of the housing was flexing open, and he had been holding it together with a rubber band for about two weeks.
He had already gone to the CDJR dealer. They told him the only option was a full replacement fob, programmed and cut. Didn't mention that the internals were fine.
I met him at his apartment breezeway with replacement shells and my Y159 Lishi. Decoded his door lock cylinder for an exact blade cut, then cracked open the old fob. The circuit board inside, the one stamped with the M3N-40821302 FCC ID, was clean. No corrosion on the battery contacts, no damage to the AES transponder chip. Just a busted housing.
I transferred the board and chip into a fresh shell, cut a new emergency key blade from my decode, seated a new CR2032, and snapped it shut. Then the real test: walked every button, checked the range from about 30 feet out, tested push-to-start, and verified the EVIC wasn't throwing any fob warnings.
He stood there turning the new shell over in his hands like he was waiting for a catch. There wasn't one. His fob worked exactly like it did the day he bought the car, for a fraction of what the dealer wanted to replace parts that never broke.
