2003 Ford Excursion
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2003 Ford Excursion Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

She was at a restaurant in the Funk Zone and her purse was gone. Someone grabbed it off the back of her chair. Car keys, house keys, wallet, phone, all of it. She borrowed the hostess's phone and called the police first, then her husband, then me.

Her 2003 Ford Excursion was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The dealer told her husband they could order a key, but it would take three to five business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they recommended having the locks rekeyed since the stolen key could still open the door. The combined estimate was not a small number.

All-keys-lost is a different job than adding a spare. When you already have a working key, the car trusts it and you just enroll a new one alongside it. With no keys at all, I clear the entire key memory and start fresh. The stolen transponder key becomes dead to that car. It can still go into the lock physically, but the immobilizer won't release the engine. I accessed the security module through the diagnostic port, wiped the old key data, and programmed two new transponder keys from scratch. I decoded the lock on site and cut both blades to match.

She had two working keys before she finished giving her statement to the officer.

She drove home that night. The dealer route would have meant a tow, days without her vehicle, and a bill that made her husband wince just reading it. She paid a fraction of that, on site, same evening. The stolen key is useless to whoever took it.
