2023 Ford F-350
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How does mobile key replacement work for a 2023 F-350?

Call us with your VIN, year, make, and model. We confirm the correct fob and blade for your truck and give you a price before we drive out. When we arrive, we cut the key blade on site, program the fob to the vehicle using professional diagnostic equipment, and test every function before we hand it over. The fob programming happens through the OBD port. No guesswork, no leaving the truck with anyone.

Q: What do I need to have ready when you arrive?

Valid photo ID and proof of ownership. Registration works fine. We pull the VIN from the dash or door jamb to verify the key specs against the truck. That's it. We handle everything else.

Q: My 2023 F-350 shows a key warning on the dash and won't start. Is the fob dead or is something else going on?

Start with the battery. A weak CR2450 is the most common reason a key-not-detected warning shows up on these trucks. If the battery swap doesn't clear it, the next step is to hold the fob directly against the start button and try again. The truck has a backup reader built into the button for exactly that situation, a low battery scenario where the passive detection range drops to almost nothing.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2023 F-350. Can I program it myself or do I need someone with tools?

You need professional equipment. The 2023 F-350 Smart Key system does not have a self-programming sequence you can run from the driver's seat. There's no ignition-turn trick, no button combination. Programming requires a diagnostic tool communicating with the vehicle's security system through the OBD port. The fob you bought online is fine to use as the hardware, but it won't do anything until it's enrolled to your specific truck.

2023 Ford F-350 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy near The Oaks Mall Area had just picked up his 2023 F-350 and wanted a spare key cut before anything could go wrong. Sensible.

He called the dealer first. They told him the fob had to be ordered, then they'd need the truck in the service bay to program it, and he was looking at a wait time that didn't work with his schedule. That's when he reached out to me.

I met him in the parking lot off Hillcrest. He had his registration and ID ready, which made the verification quick. The truck's five-button fob runs a CR2450, and the key blade itself has a specific profile that has to be cut on the right equipment, not ground down at a hardware counter.

I cut the blade, programmed the new fob to the vehicle through the OBD port, and tested everything. Lock, unlock, the start button reading the fob in his pocket, the blade in the door cylinder. Walked both sides of the truck. Took about 40 minutes in the lot, with the truck never leaving his sight.

He mentioned the dealer quote and I just told him to call us next time first. The savings were real, and he didn't burn a half-day getting there.

Ford F-350 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do I need to bring my 2023 Ford F-350 somewhere for key replacement?▼

No. We come to your location, whether that's your driveway, your workplace, or a parking lot in the Thousand Oaks area. The Oaks Mall Area is a regular stop for us. Where this matters most is in an all-keys-lost situation. If you have no working key, getting the truck to a dealer means a tow, which adds time and cost before the actual key work even starts. We handle the whole job on site.
