Got a call from a woman near Del Sol Park in Oxnard. She had a 1997 Ford Windstar sitting in her driveway and neither of her two keys would turn the ignition anymore. One key worked the door fine but jammed in the ignition. The other one was so worn down the cuts barely had any depth left.

Her "good" key was actually worn down too, just not as badly. The ignition cylinder itself was sticky but not failed. A little cleaning and lubrication on the wafer springs and it freed up.
I cut two fresh H54 blanks to the factory code right there on the driveway. No transponder to program, no computer to plug into. Just clean cuts on fresh brass. Both keys turned the ignition, both worked the doors, both popped the tailgate.
She watched the whole thing from her porch chair holding a coffee mug. When I handed her the new keys and she turned the ignition herself, she just nodded. That was it.
The whole visit was maybe 25 minutes. A tow and dealer visit would have eaten her whole day for a problem that came down to worn metal.
