A home health aide near Fairview Town Center in Goleta flagged me down about her 2011 CR-V. The key shell had cracked at the loop, the rubber button pad was worn through on two of the three buttons, and she had been holding it together with a hair tie for weeks.

I met her in the driveway, popped the old shell apart, and moved the internals into a fresh aftermarket housing. Same button layout, same fit. Cut a new HO03 blade using my Lishi pick/decoder and her existing key for reference. Tested the remote range from about 30 feet out, cycled all three buttons, then started the car to confirm the ID46 chip handshake with the immobilizer.
The whole thing took about 20 minutes. She watched the transplant happen on her front step and kept looking at the new shell like she was waiting for a catch.
There was no catch. Her old chip, her old board, a new body. A fraction of what the dealer wanted, and she never left the house.
