Got a call from a guy stuck in a parking structure near Midtown in Ventura. He had just landed after a red-eye, walked to his 2013 Honda CR-V, and nothing. No click from the doors, no trunk release, no sign of life from the fob. His emergency blade was buried in a bag inside the trunk, and the trunk wouldn't pop without the remote.

Read the immobilizer module and confirmed both of his MLBHLIK-1T remote head keys were still registered to the car. No lost key situation, no programming issue. Just a dead CR1616 inside the fob housing.
Swapped the battery, tested all three buttons, cycled the ignition a few times to make sure the ID46 transponder was reading clean on every start. He stood there watching, holding his coffee, looking like a guy who had already mentally committed to losing two days.
He drove home that same morning. The whole thing took less time than the tow company would have spent loading his car.
