2016 Honda CR-V Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A physical therapist near the Rice Avenue corridor in Oxnard called me between patients. Her 2016 CR-V was sitting in the clinic lot, dead to her fob. She had a full afternoon booked and no way to cancel everyone and deal with a dealer. On site, I checked the mechanical side first. Ran my HON66 Lishi through the driver door, blade was cutting clean. So the lock cylinder was fine and this was all on the electronics side. I opened the fob and found the problem right away. The CR2032 was in upside down, positive side facing the wrong way. Easy mistake when you're rushing between patients.
Flipped the battery, reseated it, and plugged into OBD to confirm the fob's rolling code was still synced. Then I programmed a spare smart key so she'd have a backup. Part number 72147-T2A-A01, same four-button layout, tested every function including the proximity unlock on both front handles and the hatch release.
She came out after her one o'clock to two working keys on the front desk. Her car never moved from the spot and she didn't lose a single appointment. The dealer wanted the car towed in, plus a day or more of wait time. That math never works for someone with a schedule.
