2015 Honda CR-V
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2015 Honda CR-V Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near El Rio, an older gentleman at an independent living complex called me about his 2015 CR-V. He was getting around with a cane and his daughter, who usually handles errands like this, was out of town. His only fob had been acting up: range getting shorter, the driver-side touch handle going spotty. He wanted a spare made before the whole thing quit.

I pulled up to his building that morning. He met me in the parking lot, which was as far as he needed to go.

The mechanical side came first. I decoded the lock and cut a replacement key blade to match. Then I connected through the OBD port and enrolled both the new fob and his original into the vehicle security system, verified push-button start with each one, and walked the door handles to confirm touch unlock was responding on both sides. His original fob also got a fresh CR2032 while I was there, because it was clearly running low.

The whole thing happened in his parking lot. He did not need a ride, a waiting room, or his daughter on the phone coordinating from out of town. The dealer had quoted him a price that made him wince, plus the problem of actually getting there. I was packed up and gone in under an hour, and he had two working keys instead of one struggling one.

That is the job. Show up where the car is, do it right, move on.
