A guy near the Oxnard Performing Arts Center called me from his apartment complex. He had one working smart key on his 2011 Sonata and wanted a spare before that single fob became a problem. Cut the blade on the mobile unit, then connected through OBD to the SMARTRA system. Registered the new fob, confirmed handshake with the immobilizer, verified the ID46 chip was accepted. Then the part that actually matters: tested every button, tested passive entry on both front doors, tested trunk release, tested push-button start with the original and the new fob back to back. About 35 minutes total.
He stood there holding both keys like he was comparing them for weight. They felt the same because they were the same.
He kept his original, pocketed the spare, and that was it. One visit, one parking spot, done for a fraction of what the dealer wanted.
