Third is the programming connection itself. Hyundai dealer programming relies on a live backend connection, and when that system goes down, appointments get canceled. It's not rare. Owners post about it regularly.

This is actually a pretty telling symptom. Remote lock and unlock run on a different signal than the proximity start system. If the buttons work but the start button doesn't see the fob, the fob itself is probably not the issue.

A few things to check first. Try holding the fob directly against the start button and pressing. If the car starts that way, you've got a weak battery or a proximity range issue, not a dead fob. The CR2032 in these fobs can drop below the threshold the proximity antenna needs while still having enough juice to trigger the remote buttons.

If pressing the fob to the button doesn't help, the antenna loop around the start button is the next suspect. It's a known wear point on these cars. That's a vehicle-side repair, not a key replacement. Worth diagnosing before spending money on a new fob.
