Over near Chase Palm Park in Santa Barbara, a woman flagged me down to her M45 sitting in a parking spot she was afraid to leave.
She bought the car used with one key. The salesperson at the CPO lot told her to get a spare when she had a chance. Two years went by. I pulled the cracked housing apart on her trunk lid. The PCF7936 chip was fine, just sitting in a corroded shell. I read it with my VVDI2, cloned the transponder data into two fresh chips, cut two new NSN14 blades to match her door, and seated everything into solid replacement housings. No full all-keys-lost procedure needed, which saved her time and a good chunk of money.
Both keys started the car. Both remotes locked and unlocked from across the lot. She held the old cracked key in her hand and just shook her head, like she couldn't believe that little piece of plastic had been stressing her out for weeks.
Whole thing took about 40 minutes. She went from one dying key to two new ones, on site, for way less than the dealer route.
