An Airbnb host near Stevens Park in Santa Barbara called me about her 2008 M45. The smart key shell had cracked along the seam, and the lock button was only responding if she squeezed the housing together with her thumb while pressing. She had already been to the Infiniti dealer. They told her the only fix was a brand-new fob, programmed and cut, and quoted her a number that made her put it off for two months.
What they didn't mention is that the internals were fine. The CWTWBU735 circuit board, the NATS5 46 chip, all of it still working. She just needed a new shell.
I met her in the driveway with a replacement housing and my NSN11 Lishi for the Nissan/Infiniti high-security keyway. Transferred the board and chip into the fresh shell, seated the CR2032, then decoded and cut a new emergency insert blade on site. Tested all four buttons, checked wireless range from ten feet, twenty feet, and the far side of her car. Verified push-button start and "KEY ID INCORRECT" stayed off the dash.
The whole thing took about twenty minutes. She stood there watching and said she wished she had called before spending two months pressing the fob together like a stress ball.
