A parts vendor who works the swap meet off Wooley Road in Oxnard came to me on a Sunday afternoon.
He sells aftermarket components for a living, knows cars well enough, but he was convinced the 2006 Sorento he drove to work that morning was about to become a dealer problem. He had one key left, it was bent from years in a crowded pocket, and it was starting to hang up in the ignition cylinder.

I decoded the cut from the door lock, cut him a fresh key blade on site, and dressed it so it turned clean in both the door and the ignition. He tested it himself three or four times before he was satisfied.
He did not need a dealer appointment. He did not need to leave the car anywhere. He needed a key cut correctly, done at the swap meet between his customers and mine.
