2022 Kia Sorento Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Casitas Springs, I got a call from a guy who described himself as "pretty handy." He had already bought a replacement fob online for his 2022 Kia Sorento, watched a few videos, and spent an evening trying to get it paired. Nothing worked. The car would not acknowledge the new fob at all.
When I pulled up, he had the fob, the receipt, and a look on his face that said he already knew what I was going to tell him.
The fob he ordered matched the factory FCC ID on his original, so the part was right. The problem was that this generation does not have a self-programming sequence. There is no ignition cycling, no button hold, no door-lock trick. It simply does not work that way. Programming requires going through the OBD port with the right diagnostic software, and without that, the car will never see the new fob.
I connected my equipment in his driveway, ran the key registration, and paired the new fob alongside his surviving original. Tested every button, walked the door handles, confirmed the push-button start was reading both fobs cleanly. Done in about 35 minutes.
He got exactly what he wanted: a working spare. The dealer had quoted him a multi-day wait and a cost that would have made the online fob purchase feel pointless. He saved a good chunk just by calling first.

“Excellent service! I lost my Mazda CX-30 2021 key in Oxnard and reached out to Easy Car Keys. They arrived in about 15 minutes and got everything done quickly and professionally. The price was very reasonable and the work was flawless. I definitely recommend them!”
“My car key fob stopped working and my manual unlock key wasn’t working either (thanks to the brilliant engineering of Landrover). They showed up in 15 minutes and got into the car in under 60 seconds, definitely would recommend.”
“Sunday morning key replacement for my 2003 Lexus. Fast, efficient, and a genuine nice person. The price was excellent and I saved hundreds of dollars by avoiding the Lexus dealership. I highly recommend this business as trustworthy and reliable.”
