A guy called me from that parking area on a Saturday afternoon. He'd been fishing since early morning, walked back to his 2008 Lancer, and his key was gone. He retraced every step, checked the bank, checked his gear bag twice. Nothing. He had no spare. He'd bought the car used and the previous owner only handed over the one.

Cut a fresh blade to match on my portable machine right off the van. Then I connected through the OBD port, ran the all-keys-lost sequence, cleared the old key out of memory, and enrolled the new one. The whole process took about 40 minutes from pulling up to handing him a working key.
He started the car in the same lot he thought he was getting towed out of. The dealer route would have meant a tow, at minimum a day's wait, and a bill that made him wince when I mentioned it. He saved a good chunk and didn't lose his whole weekend to it.
