2017 Mitsubishi Lancer Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Ellwood, a Lancer owner reached me because the fob had been held together with electrical tape for longer than she wanted to admit.
The plastic shell had split along the seam, the buttons were peeling up at the edges, and the key ring loop had snapped clean off. It still worked, mostly, but she was worried about losing the whole thing if the tape gave out one more time.
The dealer had already quoted her a full replacement, labor and parts together, a number that made her pause long enough to look for another option.
When I got to her carport, the first thing I did was open the fob carefully and check what was actually inside. The circuit board and the transponder were in solid shape. No corrosion on the contacts, no cracked solder points, no water intrusion. The electronics were fine. The only thing that had failed was the plastic housing around them.
So that's what we replaced. I transferred the working internals into a fresh shell, verified the blade cut, and tested every button plus the start function. The whole job was done in the carport, no tow, no appointment, no waiting room.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted for a complete replacement she didn't need.
