I got a call from a student parked in a lot near Mar Vista on a Tuesday afternoon. She had a 2007 Outlander and a fob that had stopped talking to the car sometime between morning and lunch. I connected my programmer to the OBD port, ran the key registration sequence, and re-enrolled her fob to the vehicle. Took about 25 minutes from the time I pulled up to the time I was packing my bag.
She made her 2pm lab. The dealer route would have been a tow, a Friday appointment, and a bill that would have hurt. She paid way less and never left the parking lot.
