2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got the call around 7 in the evening. A mom was stuck in a pediatrician's parking lot in Ventura, her 2013 Outlander wouldn't start, and she had a sick kid strapped in the back seat. The dealer was closed. She'd already tried holding the fob right up to the start button, which is the instinct everyone has, and it did nothing.

When I pulled up she handed me the fob first thing. I could see the case had taken some hits. Popped it open on the hood and the circuit board had a cracked solder joint near one of the contact points, the kind of damage that comes from a fob hitting hard floors a few times over a few years. Battery was fine. The board wasn't.

I replaced the fob, ran the registration through the OBD port with my programmer, and the vehicle's security system accepted it clean on the first attempt. Then I walked every button and tested the start before I called it done.

From her first call to engine running was right around 45 minutes. She made it to the pharmacy before it closed, got the prescription, and had her kid home before 9.

The dealer was never going to be an option that night. And even if they'd been open, she would have waited days for an appointment and paid considerably more. I don't mention that part to brag. I mention it because that gap is exactly why I run a mobile service in the first place.
