Saturday night in Ventura, over near Ventura Harbor Village, I got a call around 10pm. A group had been out at a Korean BBQ spot and came back to their 2008 Nissan Titan sitting dead in the lot. The remote head key wouldn't start the truck. Nobody in the group knew about the backup procedure where you hold the dead fob right up against the start button so the NATS5 antenna can pick up the 4D60 chip passively.

I was 15 minutes out. Had the CWTWB1U751 blank already stocked in the van, NSN14 key blade pre-cut ready to clone. Opened up their original fob and the CR1620 was corroded at one contact. Swapped the battery, cleaned the terminals, and reprogrammed the remote functions through the BCM. Remote range came back on all three buttons, lock, unlock, and panic. Engine fired on the first turn.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes in a parking lot.
They drove home that night. A dealer would have meant a tow, then waiting until Monday or later, since most Nissan service departments around here quote two to five business days for key work on older Titans because they batch-order the blanks. This was a Saturday night fix for a fraction of that headache.
