He was in Las Positas early on a Tuesday, parked at a winery's gravel lot for a distributor meeting. The 911 had sat overnight and when he went to leave, the blade turned, the engine cranked, and then nothing. Died immediately. Over and over. He thought it was the battery. It wasn't.

The transponder had been intermittently dropping out, and that morning it gave up for good. I pulled the immobilizer PIN through the OBD port, got into the system, and reprogrammed the transponder data on his existing key. No new key needed. The remote flip key he'd been carrying for years got a second life.
He made his first meeting with time to spare. The dealer wanted a week and a significant wait for parts. He paid a fraction of that and never moved the car.
