2000 Porsche 911 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in Downtown Moorpark called me on a Saturday morning. He had a 2000 Porsche 911 and his flip key remote had gone completely dead. The blade worked fine, car started, no problem there. But the remote lock and unlock had stopped responding, and he'd already swapped what he thought was the right battery. Still nothing.
I pulled up to his place off High Street and he handed me the fob. The flip blade was a little wobbly, which told me the hinge had taken some wear. When I opened the fob housing, the battery was seated but one of the contact clips had a slight outward bend, just enough to lose consistent pressure. I seated it correctly, cleaned the contacts, and tested the remote. It came back.
Then I checked the blade for wear since he mentioned he'd been using it as a keychain fob for years. The cut was still readable and the ignition cylinder wasn't giving him any issues, so we were good.
He asked about the dealer almost as an afterthought. I told him what the local Porsche service lane would have charged just to look at it. He got quiet for a second and then laughed. He was back inside for breakfast before his coffee got cold.
